She was the kind of girl who ripped off her Barbie dolls’ heads as a child, transforming them into zombies. She wanted to be a Japanese pop superstar and make millions of horror movies.  Standing on the sun-drenched balcony, she perched on the balls of her feet, arched her back with one hand on her hip, and surveyed Los Angeles from behind her pink plastic sunglasses.
